Neurofunctional Acupuncture

Neurofunctional acupuncture is an evidence-based approach that uses fine acupuncture needles to stimulate specific neurological points - including peripheral nerves, motor points, and trigger points - to create measurable changes in pain, muscle tone, and tissue function. Unlike traditional acupuncture, which is rooted in classical Chinese medicine, neurofunctional acupuncture is grounded in Western neuroanatomy and physiology.

When a needle is placed at a motor point or along a nerve pathway, it creates a local response in the tissue and triggers a broader neurological effect throughout the body. This can help "reset" overactive or inhibited muscles, reduce referred pain patterns, decrease inflammation, and support the nervous system's ability to regulate itself.

At Empower Chiropractic and Wellness, neurofunctional acupuncture is a powerful complement to our chiropractic and soft tissue work. It's particularly effective for conditions like chronic pain, stubborn muscle tension, nerve-related symptoms, headaches, and cases where the body seems to be "stuck" despite other treatments. Needles are very fine, and most patients are pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the process feels.
