Trigger Point &
Myofascial Release
Muscles and fascia are inseparable - fascia is the connective tissue web that surrounds and supports every muscle in your body, and when one layer gets tight or restricted, it affects the other. That's why trigger point therapy and myofascial release are a signature approach here at Empower Chiropractic and Wellness.
Trigger points are tight, hyperirritable spots within muscle tissue (commonly known as "muscle knots") that can cause local pain, referred pain felt in other parts of the body, and limited movement. Trigger point therapy applies focused, sustained pressure directly to these spots to interrupt the pain-tension cycle, restore blood flow, and allow the muscle to return to its normal resting length. Unlike massage, which focuses primarily on the muscles themselves, myofascial release targets the connective tissue, which means it can reach the root cause of tension that other therapies don't fully address.
Together, these two approaches are especially effective for chronic muscle tension, pain that seems to move around or radiate, headaches stemming from the neck and shoulders, postural tightness, and cases where the body feels "stuck" despite rest or stretching. The work is intentional and deeply therapeutic, and many patients notice not just physical relief, but an overall sense of ease and release.
